What is it and how does it work
The essentials of international checks
A check issued abroad may be subject to three types of actions by the drawer after issuance:
- Voiding: a check can only be voided on the same day it is issued, either due to the customer’s decision to withdraw or an error made by the Bank during issuance. The original check must be returned.
- Cancellation: the customer may request cancellation of the check, provided the original check is submitted at the same time as the cancellation request.
- Stop Payment: if the check has not yet been paid, the customer may request a stop payment on the check.

Collection options:
- Standard Collection: Funds availability timelines vary depending on the currency of the check(s), the country, and the banks on which they are drawn. The availability of the check amount in the current account does not guarantee successful collection, and the check(s) may still be returned, resulting in a debit to the account.
- Collection Basis: Funds are only made available in the current account after they have been received in Millennium bcp’s accounts with the drawee or correspondent bank. Collection timelines vary depending on the currency, country, and Banks involved. Under the legislation in force in some countries, the availability of funds in the customer’s account does not necessarily mean the check(s) have been successfully collected, and they may still be returned, resulting in a debit to the account.
- Immediate Credit Collection: The amount of the check(s) is made available immediately in the current account. However, this does not guarantee successful collection, and the check(s) may still be returned, resulting in a debit to the account.

- After 2:00 p.m. – available in 4 days
