What is a foreign check? It is a payment instrument issued by the Bank, in various currencies, to third parties and drawn on an account abroad. As it is issued by the bank, it is always made out to a named beneficiary and carries a payment guarantee.
Check issuance Issuance of checks in euros or foreign currency, payable to a beneficiary designated by the Customer. They can be drawn on the Bank itself (in euros) or on Banks abroad (in other currencies), enabling payments to multiple countries.
Check collection Receipt of a Bank check for deposit into an account, typically in a foreign currency. It may be processed for collection or deposit, subject to risk assessment and applicable international rules.
After issuance After the check is delivered, the beneficiary must present it at their Bank abroad to receive the funds. Crediting may take some time, depending on the country and the specific circumstances.
Actions on a check After issuance, the drawer may request one of three actions: voiding, cancellation, or a stop payment. Learn more
Check collection options The collection of foreign checks follows international rules and is available in three options: standard, collection basis, or immediate credit. Learn more
Promissory Notes (Spain) May be processed as foreign checks, with or without immediate credit, provided they are presented on or after the maturity date. Collection basis processing can be requested at any time, subject to the pricing applicable to Export Documentary Collections.
Traveler's checks May be processed with or without immediate credit, depending on the applicable terms. They have a fixed value and a payment guarantee provided by the issuing Bank. View reservation hours
