Subscription
You can subscribe to Volta if you’re between 18 and 69 years old. If you’re between 55 and 79 years old, you can subscribe to Volta 55+.
Yes, there is no commitment period.
Your coverage begins on the start date of your insurance, as long as the payment has been made.
Volta and Volta 55+ are personal accident insurance plans tailored to different age groups.
Volta is for individuals aged 18 to 69. Volta 55+ is designed for those aged 55 to 79. If you’re between 55 and 69, both options are available to you.
Both plans offer three subscription options: Simple, Regular, or Top. You can also enhance your plan with additional protection.
With Volta 55+, the main coverage shifts from death coverage to coverage for bodily injury expenses. Optional coverages include hospitalization expenses, funeral expenses, death, and more.
The great advantage of Volta is its focus on benefits that improve your quality of life.
In case of an accident, you’ll have access to:
- Home medical assistance: urgent medical consultations, which can include a general practitioner visiting your home;
- Home assistance option (optional): with medical justification, access services like laundry, ironing, house cleaning, and support for pet care;
- Amateur extreme sports extension (optional): coverage designed for those who practice amateur, non-federated extreme sports;
- Academic extension (optional): protection during Erasmus, the Socrates Program, or academic internships abroad.
Additionally, with medical justification, this insurance also provides services such as grocery and medication delivery, and pet care.
You just need to confirm your job, complete a health declaration, and choose the Volta or Volta 55+ option.
Yes, but only at a branch. For minors, you can add the Youth Option and optional death or disability coverage for the legal guardians. These coverages end at the close of the year when the minor turns 18, while all other coverages remain valid.
Volta is available for individuals aged 18 to 69, with coverage renewable until the age of 75. Volta 55+ is designed for individuals aged 55 to 79, with coverage renewable until the age of 85.
Anyone aged 18 or older can subscribe if they have a Portuguese tax address, at least one current account at Millennium, a Portuguese taxpayer number (NIF), and an updated email in the Millennium App.
Yes, it becomes active starting from the specified start date.
Coverage
For Volta, the included coverages are permanent disability, treatment expenses, repatriation, assistance to individuals, and the Médis Support Line. Optional coverages include death, death or permanent disability due to a traffic accident, family liability, daily hospital stay allowance, daily allowance after hospital discharge, amateur extreme sports, and specific options such as Cycling, Travel, Home Assistance, Golf, and Academic Extension. The Academic Extension covers Erasmus, Socrates programs, or academic internships abroad and is only available for purchase at a branch.
For Volta 55+, the included coverages are bodily injury expenses, health care, and home assistance. Optional coverages include death, funeral expenses, hospitalization, administrative and technical support, personal luggage, and travel.
The Academic Extension provides additional protection for insured individuals participating in Erasmus, the Socrates program, or academic internships abroad. It includes a tuition protection guarantee, with annual coverage of €1,000 per insured person.
The guarantee for medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, and hospitalization expenses abroad, included under Personal Assistance coverage, increases from €10,000 to €20,000. Additionally, the early repatriation return ticket guarantee now covers the return ticket to the country where the insured person is studying.
This option cannot be added when subscribing to Volta through the app, but you can add it at a branch.
It’s extra protection you can add to Volta insurance, covering accidents during amateur sports activities. It doesn’t cover events in championships, competitions, or their training stages. Radical sports include, but are not limited to: hang gliding, mountaineering, martial arts, hot air ballooning, mountain biking, bungee jumping, canoeing, equestrian sports, snow sports, caving, American football, weightlifting, ice hockey, karting, kitesurfing, diving, hiking, paintball, skydiving, paragliding, parkour, rafting, rappelling, skysurfing, off-road, and trekking.
Yes. In addition to the Academic Extension, the Death or Disability of Guardians coverage and the Youth option can only be added at a branch. These coverages are exclusive to Volta and apply only to individuals under 18 years old.
The Death or Disability of Guardians coverage is automatically replaced by Death coverage on the policy renewal date after the insured person turns 18.
The Youth option includes home schooling in Portugal, career guidance in Portugal, special transportation for young people and children in Portugal, online tutoring, IT support, online reputation management, and psychological support.
Payment
When subscribing through the app, you can select the account you want to use to pay the insurance premium.
The payment is made via direct debit from the account you select, except when the insurance start date is the same as the subscription date. In those cases, the first payment is made through an automatic transfer from the chosen account to the insurer’s account.
Yes, the payment date will be the same as the insurance start date you chose when you subscribed.
Yes, you can select from monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual payment options. Please note that payment frequencies other than annual may incur additional costs.
Usage
Coverage begins on the date specified in your contract. For fixed-term contracts, coverage ends at midnight on the last day. One-year contracts automatically renew for the same duration.
To report a claim, simply email sinistros.patrimoniais@ocidental.pt or visit any Millennium branch. Make sure to provide the policy number, a description of the claim, and the contact details of the parties involved. For any questions, you can reach Ocidental Seguros' claims support line at +351 210 042 490 (available on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Calls are charged at national landline rates, with costs depending on your operator's tariff.

Management
For contracts of 1 year or more, you can cancel with written notice 30 days before the contract ends. With just cause, either party can cancel at any time. For remote contracts, you can cancel without just cause within 14 days of receiving the policy.

The renewal is automatic. It renews annually until the maximum coverage period is reached.
