Pétis is an insurance that protects your dog or cat.
You can include dogs and cats, provided they have a microchip, are healthy, and have the necessary Local Council license and up-to-date vaccination plan. You will need to visit a branch to add dangerous breeds or pets with a history of aggressive behavior. Regarding age, you can add pets up to 10 years old to the Base pack. Pets older than 4 weeks and up to 8 years old can be added to the Plus, Platinum, and Premium packs.
Yes, there is a 90-day waiting period for veterinary and medication assistance, funeral and euthanasia, and vaccine coverage.
Yes, with Pétis, there’s no loyalty period.
Just select "Add another pet" when you finish entering the details of the first pet. With Pétis, you can add up to 8 pets, including those of different species or breeds, and still enjoy exclusive discounts.
In Portugal, the following breeds and their crossbreeds are classified as potentially dangerous:
- Brazilian mastiff;
- American bulldog;
- Pit bull terrier;
- Rottweiler;
- American staffordshire terrier;
- Staffordshire bull terrier;
- Tosa inu;
- Any animal that, due to its species characteristics, aggressive behavior, size, or jaw strength, could cause injury or death to people or other animals.
- Access to a national network of clinics and hospitals, providing top-tier medical care for your pet, whether for routine health management or emergencies;
- Nationwide coverage, with the option to extend assistance to other EU countries through the Territorial Assistance Extension;
- Reimbursements of up to 90%, with a 10% deductible, both within and outside the Pétis network;
- Freedom to choose your trusted veterinarian, as Pétis operates on a reimbursement basis.
The policyholder is the pet's owner, or alternatively, a minor descendant, a spouse, or someone living with the owner in a long-term relationship.
Yes, you can subscribe to Pétis again.
To subscribe, the policyholder must be 18 or older, have a Portuguese tax address registered with Millennium, hold at least one current account with Millennium, have a Portuguese taxpayer number, and ensure their email address is updated in the Millennium App.

Usage
The coverage varies depending on the option you choose. Please check the insurance's General and Special Conditions for more detailed information.
You can start using it 2 business days after subscription.
With this insurance, you have complete freedom of choice. You can visit any veterinarian, including your regular one.
Pétis is valid in mainland Portugal and the islands. You can also extend coverage to other EU countries with the Territorial Assistance Extension option. Additionally, you can extend civil liability coverage to Spain with the Civil Liability Territorial Extension for Spain option.
Coverage starts on the date specified in the contract. Contracts with an initial period of one year automatically renew for another year. The policy starts at the date and time stated in the contract.
You can continue visiting your regular veterinarian, even if they are outside the provider network. However, the "Vaccines" and "Funeral and Euthanasia" coverages are only available within the network of veterinary providers. Expense reimbursement can be processed via email at saude.pets@ip-assistance.com
Accessing the clinics, hospitals, and services in the Pétis network is easy. On ocidental.pt, you can search by location and specialty. Partners are identified with the Pétis network icon.
You can get a reimbursement of up to 90%, with a 10% deductible, both within and outside the Pétis network.
It’s the amount or percentage you must pay for the medical expenses. You can check these values in the Millennium App coverage sections or the insurance's Particular Conditions.
You can view the Particular Conditions of your policy in the Millennium App under My Insurances > Pétis > Insurance Details, or in StayON> Documents > Insurance> Pétis.

Payment
Yes, you can choose between monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual payments. The longer the payment interval, the greater the discount on the insurance premium.
